JROTC – Raiders

Raiders Commander
C/MAJ Cameron White

  • Establish and maintain a recruitment program designed to attract new unit members
  • Schedule challenging adventure training in the areas of rope bridges (knots), land navigation and map
  • reading (orienteering), physical training, confidence course, and first aid
  • Schedule a Raider qualification day and an annual Field Training Exercise (FTX)
  • Assist instructor staff as a screening and selection mechanism for JCLC participation

Raider training builds dedication and determination by challenging the participants in practical hands-on applications that increase physical fitness, build self-confidence, develop leadership, and inspire teamwork. The training enhances previous knowledge acquired in JROTC. The Raider Team consists of a minimum of a ten-member team with one serving as the commander and two as team leaders. Raiders provide cadets a program in mentally and physically challenging events such: Army Physical Fitness Test: 1-mile run, push-up, sit-up, pull-up; First Aid skills and the Litter Carry; Knots and the One-Rope Bridge; Maps and Land Navigation; and the confidence course.
Raider Team members have a physical workout at each practice, which is held every Wednesday from 3:15 – 5:30 throughout the year where emphasis on upper-body strength and cardiovascular fitness is made. In addition, once a year there are beret tests which are both written and hands on. All beret test topics will be covered in Raiders. The people who wear the beret are the elite in JROTC; they have proven that they know more in the area of military knowledge and physical fitness than other cadets do. Raider Qualification is held at the beginning of the school year and a Field Training Exercise and beret test are planned for at the end of the school year.
